Hello all,

With sadness, we’re leaving the Bainbridge Island area of Washington today, but we must move on.  So far this area of the Northwest is by far our favorite.

One of our favorite things was the most remarkable grocery store called Central Market. This place was incredible, freshly made home cooking, local grown fruits and veggies,  at least twenty varieties of free trade coffee beans (by the way, the best coffee we have ever had) and local fresh seafood brought in from the sound every day,  we could go on and on but you have to experience it to believe it.  Of course Steve was in love the minute he found out they served homemade biscuits and gravy every morning.

On Sunday, we explored Bainbridge Island, we attended several open houses.  We both agreed that we could definitely live here; it would be hard to beat.  The beauty and the lifestyle are amazing.   Monday, we ventured over to Keyport where we toured the Naval Undersea Museum.  After we went to the commissary on the Bangor Naval Sub Base.  The base was very nice.

The weather is finally changing, it’s been cooler and this morning was drizzly.   Steve said it reminded him of the weather in Scotland.

It only took is about an hour to arrive at our next destination, Sequim, Washington.   We chose this spot because an old friend from the fire department, Mike Bongerz, is staying here.  Mike and his wife come here regularly and have been here for almost five months on this trip.  Our spot is across from the Sequim Bay.  It is so peaceful here and nice to see the water just out our door.  The John Wayne Marina is also across the street, the Wayne family owns all the land around here, including our campground.  The camp hosts say that Patrick Wayne, John’s son comes here every couple of years to visit.

Tomorrow we will be going to explore the Olympic National Forest.  Until then…..
