Thursday, September 8th

Hello all from Oregon,
We left a little later than planned on Tuesday from Apple Valley because our dear sons insisted on welding the jacks under our motorhome and installing  vent covers before we left, even in the 90+ degree sweltering heat.  I love that they are always watching out for us, they are the best.  Thank you Matt and Cale.

We decided the drive through the first night and stay in a rest area when we got tired, we were surprised when we couldn’t find an open rest stop because our lovely Governor Brown has most of them shut down.  We eventually found one somewhere north of Sacramento about 4am which of course was very crowded and quite challenging to squeeze in.

An inlet of Lake Shasta from the rest area.
Driving through the very northernmost part of California was gorgeous; we couldn’t believe we were still in the state.  We eventually settled in Wednesday evening at a very nice RV park just outside of Eugene, Oregon.  We will be staying here tonight also.  We have to go over to the propane company tomorrow morning to fix a faulty fill valve on our propane tank.  We found this out when we tried to have the propane filled and the valve wouldn’t allow it, just another hiccup, but no big deal.

Snow on Mt. Shasta in September!

We are truly enjoying it here though, the people in Oregon are very friendly, there are a million trees and everything is so green and beautiful.  Talk about fan-natics, they are crazy about their college football team the Oregon  Ducks (see picture).  We couldn’t get more than two nights in the campground because it is full after Friday because of a weekend home game.

Oregon is crazy about their Ducks Football!

We’ll be heading north tomorrow, bye for now.

No bad days…..
