Welcome Home!

West Texas Sunset
As we left San Antonio, Steve and I both felt the calling, we were finally ready to go home.  In fact, we drove straight through West Texas and Arizona, only stopping for gas and a few hours sleep in a Walmart parking lot just outside of Phoenix.  Twenty-seven hours after leaving San Antonio, we arrived full circle back in Temecula, California.

Welcome to California!

Full circle is exactly what we did, 10,000 miles, 31 states and 5 months later we achieved our goal.  We circled the perimeter of the US, seeing everything and going everywhere we put on our wish list.

The dark blue states represent the states we visited.

This adventure began as a spur of the moment idea that was sparked by the words “Let’s just go” during a moment of frustration with our daily routine.   Why not?   Steve being a sailor at heart was always ready for an adventure and I had always hoped to complete my mom and dad’s unfinished dream to travel the US.  The timing could not have been more perfect, we would probably never again have this opportunity.  Eight weeks later, our home was leased, our affairs were in order and we left home on our once in a lifetime adventure.

Our temporary home

We’d like to thank all of our family and friends who followed our journey on this blog.  You were all in our hearts and spirit every step of the way.  This blog became such a huge part of this trip.  At first it was just a communication tool, but it ended up like a good friend, we’re going to miss it.

There’s no place like home.

And still.... No Bad Days
