San Antonio, Texas

Elevated highway and bad weather ahead through the swamps of Louisana
Welcome to Texas
We rolled into San Antonio, Texas late in the afternoon with plans to stay for a long weekend.  We had just passed through some pretty bad weather, thunderstorms and tornado watches, but the forecast was encouragingly mild.  We set up camp at a nice campground a few miles south of the city.
Riverwalk, Downtown San Antonio
On Friday, we ventured into San Antonio to visit the much anticipated Riverwalk.  Downtown San Antonio lived up to all expectations.  The downtown area was beautiful and the Riverwalk area amazing.  We spent the entire day exploring the area.  We had awesome margaritas at a sports bar alongside the river.  Later in the day we took a boat tour around the river that was delightful.  We ended our enjoyable day with a Mexican dinner with our table right on the river.

Saturday and Sunday we did more exploring in the San Antonio area.  We visited the Alamo that was full of history and beauty.  We walked across town to the Marketplace which was just like being in a colorful Mexican town.  We could have spent several more days in this town, we enjoyed it very much.

Our trip wouldn’t be complete without visiting a local “Diner, Drive-In and Dives” featured restaurant.  We had an excellent barbeque lunch at the Bun and Barrel.  Guy Fieri has never steered us wrong.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here in San Antonio, but the anticipation of heading home is foremost in our minds.
