Hello from Savannah,
We arrived at our Savannah area campground on Monday, November 14th. The campground was located about 10 miles from downtown Savannah. The area around is surrounded by woods, it was very peaceful here.
On Tuesday, we ventured into the town of Savannah. The downtown area has beautiful old buildings and streets lined with grand Spanish moss covered oak trees. This is a very picturesque place. We strolled among the streets with all the quaint shops and restaurants.

We ate a fabulous lunch at Paula Deen’s restaurant “Lady and Sons”. The Savannah waterfront area had unique brick alleyways below the main road level, very interesting. We enjoyed this town very much.

The next day, we drove to the nearby Hilton Head Island. Wow, what a great place. The small 55 square mile island is home to 23 golf courses and miles of beaches. We were in awe as we drove through canopies of moss covered oaks. We visited the Sea Pines Plantation and the Harbour Town Marina.

We climbed to the top of the lighthouse which overlooked the golf course and waterways of the Westside of the island. We walked on the smooth sand beaches, complete dunes and beach grass. A sight we don’t see on the west coast.

We really enjoyed our brief stay here on the Georgia Coast.
